Plan three or four full days in Kuching: City, Bako and Semenggoh with suitable tours, alternatives and a central hotel base.

Our choice for the first visit: a city day, a Bako day and Semenggoh. With four days you can complement a boat tour or an active kayak day. Allow separate days for arrival and departure.

Kuching on foot and in a sampan
Begin with the four-hour city tour including a sampan ride and lunch. The route combines river, city history and streets like Gambier Street. Leave the rest of the afternoon free for a walk along the waterfront.
For a culinary focus, the three-hour food tour with five tastings replaces the walking tour. Both tours on the same day are not necessary for the first entry.

A separate day for Bako
Book the day trip with road transfer, boat and guided hike. This leaves the day entirely for the rainforest and coast; Another larger excursion doesn't make sense here.
The approximately seven hours are the total duration. Which paths you hike and when the boat leaves also depends on the weather and tides.

Semenggoh with time for your interests
For orangutans and a free afternoon, choose the three-hour Semenggoh visit. If culture is your focus, the seven-hour combination with Annah Rais replaces the free afternoon.
The animals move freely in the forest; Sightings are not guaranteed. For houses of different population groups and performances, the Cultural Village combination is the alternative to the longhouse village.

Santubong for landscape & animal observation
The four-hour wildlife tour completes Bako from the water. For a whole island trip, Satang Island is another option; The implementation depends on the season and weather.

According to the organizer, the seven-hour kayaking offer includes around 1.5-2 hours of paddling as well as transfers and lunch. It replaces another day of hiking with time on the river.

Allow at least one generous meal and relaxation break between the return of a tour and another fixed date. Transfers and tides make connecting bookings without a buffer impractical. If you arrive late, this plan will not start until the next full day.

If the process changes
Swap days without rescheduling everything.
Start with the excursion, the date of which has been set. Bako, Kayak and Island Time need their own time slots. You can more easily postpone the city walk in your itinerarys; Booked services remain bound to their conditions.
Which station replaces which?
- The Bako overnight stay takes up two days and replaces two of the daily modules.
- A long Semenggoh cultural day replaces the short visit including a free afternoon.
- For three days, kayaking replaces another entire day of excursion; at four days it is the alternative to Santubong.
The order is a recommendation, not a commitment to availability or weather.
Before you book
What else you would like to know.
Do arrival and departure count as three or four days?
No. The proposals count on full days. If you arrive late, you will start the next morning; You can arrange an excursion with a boat or road transfer before the day of departure.
Do I have to book all tours?
No. This is a travel suggestion made up of components that can be booked separately, not a complete package. Choose the dates individually and swap days if availability or weather requires it.
Does an overnight stay in Bako fit into the plan?
Yes, but it replaces two of the excursion days. Use the Bako comparison and shorten other stations; an overnight stay is not included in the same daily schedule.
